Akol has spent 30 years with the Office of the Auditor General (OAG)⏤ the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Uganda⏤ and has worked his way from the bottom to the top. He holds an MBA from the Heriot-Watt University-Edinburg Business School as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University. He is as well CPA (K) qualified.
