The Central Bank has warned Ugandans against circulating an image of a bank note worth Ushs 100,000 which has flooded the social media. The Bank has gone ahead to declare the note a hoax and affirmed its circulation as illegal.
In a statement sent to media houses this afternoon, Bank of Uganda (BOU) explained, “It has come to our attention that unknown individuals have created and are circulating an image of a bank note of Ushs. 100,000 purportedly issued by Bank of Uganda. The public is informed that the Bank of Uganda has not issued any new denomination of Uganda currency and does not plan to do so in the near future.
