Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, is returning to Uganda on September 11th. The event will see 10 of Uganda’s best startups compete to represent the country at the Seedstars World final and win up to US$ 500,000 in equity investment.
In line with its mission to place the spotlight on entrepreneurs from emerging countries, Seedstars World has expanded its competition to include more than 50 countries for 2015 (up from the 36 countries of the 2014 edition.) Its previous participants have raised over US$ 20 million collectively, providing employment to over 360 employees all around the world.
For the upcoming event, Seedstars World has formed a strategic partnership with Stanbic Bank in Uganda who will act as main partner for the event as well as Google for Entrepreneurs. Stanbic Bank will also provide additional support to the local entrepreneurs.
The partnership will allow the winning team to represent Uganda at the final event in Geneva. Beyond that, Stanbic Bank Uganda will explore potential options for collaborations and partnerships with the participating entrepreneurs.
