The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MOICT) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Association of Uganda (NITA-U) have unveiled a US$ 300,000 Information Access Centre (IAC). The new facility was built with assistance from the Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning of South Korea and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of Korea.

The Centre boasts of a fully equipped 30-seater specialized training Centre, a 25 Seater Internet Lounge and a 50 Seater seminar and conference room.

Speaking during the launch event held at the ICT House in Kampala yesterday, The ICT minister Hon John Nasasira stressed the need to use the centre to facilitate e-government initiatives to the public and government officials.

“The center’s objective is to create an environment for the youth, students, government ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) to benefit from new technologies. It will also raise IT literacy levels while promoting the use of ICT for development.
