Centenary Group has appointed Godfrey Byekwaso, hitherto the General Manager of Finance at Centenary Bank Uganda, as its Deputy Managing Director for Centenary Bank Malawi, CEO East Africa Magazine can exclusively reveal.
Centenary Group, which is the holding company for Centenary Bank, Centenary Technology Services Limited (Cente-Tech), and Centenary Foundation, recently acquired 100% of MyBucks Banking Corporation of Malawi and rebranded it to Centenary Bank Malawi.
The new brand was launched on March 22nd 2023 and Zandile Shaba, retained as the bank’s Managing Director.
Godfrey Byekwaso is a highly skilled finance professional and banker with key competencies in financial analysis and management. He was appointed General Manager of Finance at Centenary Bank, in December 2012.
He has been part of the Centenary Bank success story for the last ten years, having joined the bank in 2012, from FINCA where he started honing his finance and banking career as Finance and Administration Manager in 2004. In 2009, he was employed as Senior Regional Finance Manager for FINCA International until he was appointed General Manager, Finance at Centenary Bank.
Mr. Byekwaso who is also a partner at DATIVA & Associates Certified Public Accountants was in 2020 named the Chief Finance Officer of the Year in the ACCA Uganda and Deloitte Uganda organised CFO of The Year Awards.
He holds a B.Com (Accounting) degree and an MBA (Accounting & Finance), both from Makerere University. He has also completed the CEO Apprenticeship Programme of Strathmore Business School.
He is also a member of the League of East African Directors (LEAD).
