Obedi Laizer is the Managing Director Absa Bank Tanzania. The bank is part of Absa Group Limited, an African financial services group that aims to be the pride of the continent.
A Chartered Certified Accountant and a Finance Business Executive, Laizer has over 17 years of a highly successful career in Business Strategy Formulation and Execution, Financial Management, Cross functional leadership, Risk Management, Audit and Internal Controls, and Project Management both locally and internationally, 13 of which have been spent in senior management positions.
Asked about his objectives for Absa Bank Tanzania in the next 5 years in a 2023 interview, he said: We will pursue growth and return maximisation as our key strategic ambition. In terms of growth, we aim to increase our market share and be among the top five banks in Tanzania by 2025. Currently, we are ranked number seven in terms of revenue and profitability.”
