Reginald Tumusiime, the Chief Executive Officer of CapitalSavvy speaks during the launch of the Blockchain Innovative Program

CapitalSavvy, a technology-centric financial advisory and investment management firm, together with partners, the BSV Blockchain Association and Block Dojo, recently unveiled the Blockchain Innovative Program, which offers web 3.0 developers, an opportunity to upskill and increase their competitiveness in the blockchain ecosystem. Reginald Tumusiime, the Chief Executive Officer of CapitalSavvy, in this interview with CEO East Africa Magazine, explains more about the Blockchain Innovation Program and why it is important to apply.

For starters, what is Blockchain all about and why is it important in today’s world? For the non-techies, is it something they should care about?

Blockchain is a technology that allows for the dissemination of any data type in a permissionless, decentralized, fast and secure way. Blockchain allows us to exchange value efficiently like never seen before. It is disruptive and will eventually dis-intermediate several industries such as finance and banking, healthcare, telecommunication, music and entertainment to mention but a few.

CapitalSavvy and partners have put together the Blockchain Innovation Program. What is it about?

The Blockchain Innovation Program (BIP) is a 10-week program aimed at providing the relevant foundational skills required for entrepreneurial developers to build projects and enterprises on scalable Blockchains such as the BSV Blockchain. For the first cohort, we have partnered with the BSV Blockchain Association and The Dojo to deliver this program. The first cohort will comprise 50 successful developers who will be selected based on several surrogates. The entrepreneur who creates the best project at the end of the program hackathon will join the Dojo in London, for another 12-week accelerator program at the Dojo, in London.

Who is best suited to apply for this program and why should anyone want to apply?

BIP is for any developer with proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python and JavaScript. In addition, the developer should demonstrate entrepreneurial and leadership abilities among others.

On why anyone should apply, the reason is simple. Web 3.0 is increasingly gaining traction today. Learning how to code on a blockchain such as the BSV Blockchain gives you an edge in a world short of Blockchain developers. In addition, the partnership with the Block Dojo will allow the best developer to join the 4th cohort of the Dojo in London next year. Other developers will be exposed to the BSV Blockchain ecosystem of like-minded developers as well potential investors.

What else can your stakeholders expect from CapitalSavvy in the coming days?

Our core business is financial advisory and investment management. We will continue to execute this mandate. For BIP specifically, in the medium to long-term, we intend to launch a Fund that will support Entrepreneurial Developers who are building Blockchain-powered solutions to complement the program. This will enable the sustainability of the talent we hope to nurture at the Program.
