Insurance guru Gary Corbit, previously the Chief Executive Officer at Sanlam General Insurance has been reassigned to the Chief Executive role at Sanlam Life Insurance.
Gary joined Sanlam Life Insurance Uganda in March 2022.
As Chief Executive, his role involves running the company’s strategy and allocating capital and people resources to deliver on the strategy.
An experienced and hands-on Chief Executive, Gary is known for transforming Sanlam General Insurance from the 14th position to the 2nd position (based on Net Earned Premium), all in 7 years. He also grew Sanlam General’s asset book from UGX9.3 billion in 2015 to UGX147 billion in 2021.
Gary brings to Sanlam Life Insurance over 22 years of experience.
Prior to joining the Sanlam brand, Gary was the Chief Executive Officer of ICEO Uganda. He has also held a Chief Executive role at Africa Life Assurance Zambia and General Manager at UAP Kenya (now UAP-Old Mutual) as well as the Managing Director of United Assurance before it got taken over and got rebranded to UAP Old Mutual Uganda.
Gary holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from INSEAD Business School, a Corporate Governance certification from the UK and a strategic management accreditation from Sandhurst Military Academy.
He is a dynamic and open-minded leader who believes in driving businesses forward and is a great soccer fan.
