On Friday, last week, UNBS raided Sure Deal Beauty Centre after ascertaining that the cosmetic products the company was trading on the market contained banned substances that posed put the lives of users at risk of diseases like cancer.

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has revealed that the cosmetics it confiscated from Sure Deal Beauty Centre Limited on February 2 were worth Shs300 million.
The confiscation of the products came after UNBS quality assurance officers gave Sure Deal Beauty Centre a surprise visit, which revealed that this beauty products company was illegally using UNBS quality mark in addition to selling banned products ‘in contravention of the UNBS Act and the Uganda Standards on specifications for Petroleum Jelly (US191) and general requirements for labelling cosmetics (US 346).’
“UNBS confiscated 1.7 tonnes of cosmetics worth Shs300 million. Using UNBS quality illegally mark is a criminal offence. The Penalty is 500 currency points which is about Shs10 million,
