Nile Breweries Limited, Uganda’s largest alcoholic drinks maker, has appointed Adu Rando as its new Managing Director, CEO East Africa Magazine, exclusively reveals.
Nile Breweries is a 2+ million hectolitres and USD200+ million in turnover, a year subsidiary of global alcohol giants, Anheuser-Busch (AB InBev) has appointed. The brewer operates two production sites- one in Jinja City and another in Mbarara City, in Western Uganda.
Mr. Adu Rando replaces David Valencia who has been Managing Director for only two years, since December 2020. Daniel is taking up the Commercial Strategy Director: Africa, role based at the Africa Region head office in South Africa.
According to his profile, Rando, has spent 20 years in the alcohol industry- 13 in Brazil, 5 in China and 2 in Africa. Over the last 7 years, he has been overseeing the brewer’s trade digitisation in China and Africa, including Uganda and Tanzania.

Before coming to Uganda, Rando worked as the AB InBev Route-to-Market Director for Greater Africa, a role he started in October 2021. Before that, he was the Commercial Director for Tanzania (October 2020- October 2021). In China, he worked, first as the
B2B Director (March 2016- March 2018) and Tech Sales & Contact Strategy Director China (March 2018 – September 2020).
Before that, he spent 13 years with Ambev, an AB InBev company in Brazil for 13 years, rising through different roles to become the Direct Distribution Centres General Manager in July 2012.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and two MBAs, one from the University of São Paulo (Universidade de São Paulo) and another from the Inspire Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa (The Insper Institute of Education and Research).
He has also completed executive education at the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Supply Chain Management and Strategic Cost-Analysis for Managers.
