The minister for finance, planning and economic development, Hon Matia Kasaija has appointed Dr. Wilberforce Kisamba Mugerwa as the new board chairperson of the Uganda Micro-Finance Support Centre (MSC).
He replaces Justine Bagyenda, former Director of Banking and Supervision, Bank of Uganda, who a few days ago went into early retirement from her position at BoU. She leaves together with her entire board team with whom she served two terms as MSC board members.
However, the other members that will work with Dr Kisamba Mugerwa are yet to be communicated. Our team is checking with the Finance Ministry on this.

About Wilberforce Kisamba- Mugerwa (PhD).
“He is the chairperson of the National Planning Authority (NPA) since July 2008 to-date, a 2009 Spring Semester, Visiting professor for International Studies Rural Development at Williams College, Massachusetts USA and a Senior Research Associate with Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) of Makerere University Kampala.With a PhD in Agricultural Economics of Makerere University and vast practical experience, he blended very well with the International Food Policy where he served as a Division Director of the International Service of National Agricultural Research (ISNAR).Kisamba- Mugerwa served as an elected Member of Parliament 1980- 2004 and held various cabinet Ministerial positions in the Government of Uganda. He is a small –scale farmer in Kikonda – Bamunanika (of Luwero District- Uganda).”
