Chris Musoke, the US-based Director of Robotics at Amazon

Eng Chris Musoke is the Director of Robotics at Amazon Global Robotics since July 2022.

He recently joined the global giant, Amazon two months ago, having spent over 13 years of his aeronautics engineering career at Boeing.

His previous and present jobs are both based in the Greater Seattle Area in the United States of America (USA).

Chris Musoke has over 10 years’ experience in engineering leadership and management in airplane development life cycle team environment; including overall technical responsibility for 787-9 Configuration Design, technology development, enhancing customer and supplier working relations.

During his senior management career in the aviation industry that spans over 13 years and 8 months, Chris was at Boeing, serving in various roles such as; Chief Engineer (December 2008 to July 2022).

He was later promoted in June 2019 to the position of Twin Aisle Product Development Chief Engineer by Boeing. A role he has held for the last 3 years and 2months.

As part of his previous role at Boeing, Engineer Musoke  his job description included the following tasks.

 Lead, focus, and integrate development of airplane design and production system improvements.
• Participate in the creation and management of program-level plans and schedules.
• Ensure technical excellence, a sound business case, schedule compliance, and risk mitigation through adherence to Product Design Reviews.
• Define airplane and production system requirements and technology needs, and ensure integration of technology projects with the program schedule.
• Identify staffing requirements for all supporting functions to acquire key resources.
• Participate in the development, coordination, and communication of product development plans with the development team, the airplane program, production system leaders, engineering leaders, customers, suppliers and regulatory agencies.

• Manage the R&D budget for airplane and production system development activity.
• Build strong customer relationships and demonstrate ability to influence customer decisions.

Chris’ very first job was in 1989 to 1990 when he joined the aviation industry as a Certification Engineering Intern at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during this 1 year Musoke became a certified aviation Engineer.

He used this opportunity to propel himself to the next level by joining aircraft manufacturer – Boeing in 1990.

For the next 14 years that followed until 2004 Eng. Musoke was Boeing’s Product Development Engineer.

In 2005, Boeing noticed and rewarded Mr. Musoke for his technical excellence and upgraded him to become the 787 Wing Engineering Manager – a position he served in for the next 3 years – until 2008.

Engineer Musoke’s core strengths include the following; Providing leadership to direct reports; includes staffing, training, and business plan evaluation; plus innovating and driving continuous improvement to Product Design and development operations.

He holds 15 years’ experience in airplane development, design and management in an integrated product team environment.

He has massive experience in total airplane life cycle development phases of New Airplane & Derivatives Product Development .

He has valuable experience in airplane requirements development and technology integration.

Chris has proven technical leadership, risk management and resolution, integrated schedule and project management execution.

International business travel and global partners/supplier management plus customer engagement experience are part of his achievements during his illustrious career.

Education:

Engineer Chris Musoke holds a Bachelors’ degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical / Space Engineering that he studied from the University of Texas in USA between 1985 to 1990.

Eng. Musoke also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Michael G. Foster School of Business which is part of the University of Washington (USA).

He acquired his (MBA) Technology Management in 2019.
