Members of Parliament want equity in payment of South Sudan traders

Members of Parliament are discontented with the manner in which government is handling payment of Ugandan traders who supplied goods to the government of South Sudan. Legislators are irked that whereas Parliament approved funds for payment of 33 companies in 2019, only 10 have been paid. Parliament blocks Minister Bahati’s move to re-allocate funds for newly created cities

Parliament has rejected a move tabled by Finance State Minister, David Bahati, to provide finances for running newly approved cities in the country. On July 1, seven newly created cities including Arua, Gulu, Jinja, Mbarara, Fort Portal, Masaka and Mbale were flagged off to operate following parliamentary approval on 28th April to create 15 more cities in the country.
