President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned Umeme’s upgraded multibillion Mbale Substation near Bugema that is expected to make power supply stable in the area. Selestino Babungi, the Umeme Managing Director, explained that the $17m (UGX64b) modern substation will now make electricity supply in eastern region more reliable resulting from the integration of the new transmission 50MW substation at the Mbale Industrial Park. He said the capacity banks installed will stabilise voltages and quality of supply to industrial customers.
