Yesterday, various online rumours were circulated online, saying that an unidentified lady with COVID-19 symptoms had been evacuated for medical treatment by the Infectious Diseases Institute from one of the buildings owned by the Ruparelia Group in downtown Kampala.
But the ministry statement released by Emma Ainebyoona, this morning, 14th March the Senior Public Relations Officers, also said that the Infectious Diseases Institute had not carried out any such evacuation but rather, the said lady who had recently returned from China was found locked in her apartment where she is a tenant and was undergoing the recommended 14-days self-isolation.

An earlier statement by the Ruparelia Group’s property management arm, Crane Management Services, also dismissed the rumour as untrue and said that the group continues to remain vigilant and is undertaking “all the relevant precautionary measures recommended by the ministry of health.”
