Stephen Ineget, the new KPMG Uganda leader

Stephen Ineget has been appointed new Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) Uganda country leader.

KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services, operating in 147 countries with more than 219,000 people working in member firms around the world whose purpose is to turn knowledge into value for the benefit of the people, and the capital markets.

Stephen has been the country leader of KPMG Rwanda where he was responsible for spearheading the KPMG business (Audit, tax and advisory) in Rwanda and ensuring that clients know KPMG as a trusted service provider.

Stephen’s strong business acumen, technical skills, excellent relationship skills and his focus on quality and desire to add value to clients will ensure that KPMG clients get a service of KPMG standard across the globe.

Before relocating to Rwanda, Stephen was a Director in KPMG Uganda.

He has over 14 years of audit experience, all gained at KPMG. He has handled a number of significant clients in financial sector in Uganda, Rwanda and the USA. Stephen has vast experience in audits of key Corporations and multinational Companies across various industries. He also worked in USA and has vast experience from the USA market and in particular the audit of the internal control environment and integrated audits.

Stephen has an in depth knowledge and extensive experience of audits, accounting and special assignments for a wide range of corporate, parastatal, bank and insurance industry, pension funds clients. He has also handled specialised assignments such as internal audit, forensic audits, risk advisory assignments, due diligence reviews, mergers and acquisitions and discontinued operations.

He has largely specialised in auditing financial institutions and has dedicated a lot of time researching on best practices for each category of financial institutions. He has been on forefront in training KPMG clients on how to comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Stephen is an expert on energy specializing in hydro power. He has massive experience gained from audit and specialized assignments on hydro power.

He also serves as a member of the inspection commission and the audit and risk Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda.

Stephen holds Makerere University’s Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)

Regional expansion

KPMG East Africa’s regional expansion came in 1995 with the setting up of offices in Dar-es-Salaam and Kampala.
