Ivan is a certified  QHSE professional with the American Institute of Health and Safety Professionals and a hands-on practitioner having worked in various industries such as transport and logistics, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing and refinery plants.

He is also, a pragmatic QHSSE trainer, developer of procedures, programs, and rules and an implementer, who has had millions of man-hours of exposure with no fatality incidents recorded under his QHSSE leadership tenure for the various positions held.

He is presently the Country QHSSE Manager at Africa Global Logistics formerly Bollore Logistics ― a member of MSC shipping line, the number one biggest shipping line in the world. 

In his role, he is responsible for ensuring that the company’s Quality Health Safety and Environment programs comply with AGL’s local and international policies, rules, standards, best practices as well as domestic laws.

Reporting to the  AGL Uganda Country Director and the AGL QHSE Africa Dept, he is in charge of implementing an effective integrated management system, in compliance with AGL’s global IMS; quality, safety and Environmental management system.  Ivan’s extensive experience in oil and gas is critical to AGL’s transport and logistics operations in managing the supply chain and logistics for the oil & gas Tilenga Project in the Albertine region. 

Ivan’s QHSSE experience started at United Safety Ltd in Alberta Canada in 2006 where he worked as a Field Safety Technician and EHS Coordinator for Shell Canada’s upstream and downstream sectors.  Between April 2009 and December 2010, he worked at Shell Canada,  as the Environmental, Health & Safety  Regional HSE Supervisor for the 1st Shell Exploration project for Natural Gas in Sweden. 

In July 2011, he returned home, to work at Tullow Oil as a Field EHS Advisor and then EHS Superintendent. In June 2014, he joined Hima Cement (LaFarge Uganda) as the Country Health & Safety Manager until April 2017 when he left to become the  Country HSE Lead Trainer at CANAF HSE Consulting Services participating in the GIZ project that aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises through ISO standardisation training.

Between  March 2021 to March 2022, he became the Country QHSSE Manager at Pearl Engineering Ltd, one of the leading home-grown engineering companies. He was responsible for Pearl Engineering’s total scope of civil works for the Tilenga Project. In April 2022, Ivan assumed the Country QHSSE Manager at Bolloré Uganda Ltd.

His core competencies and skills, among others, include quality management system reviews, health safety environment compliance audits, relationship management, risk management, incident investigation, regulatory adherence, benchmarking & research, and communication.     

He is a graduate of Makerere University and  Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Canada. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, at the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.  

Amongst many other professional certifications, Ivan is a Certified Safety Management Practitioner (CSMP) as well as a Certified Health & Safety Manager (CSHM) with the American Institute of Health and Safety Professionals
