Increasingly, women are involved in corporate leadership both in the top tier and middle management executive positions, bringing with them valuable insights and a refreshing take on leadership styles, and impacting the executive space positively. In response to this, there is an increased demand for quality women leadership, and amongst women, for quality training.
Strathmore University Business School’s response to this has been the development of a corporate governance Programme for women on boards: the Women Directors Leadership Programme.
Target Audience
This Programme targets women directors and aims to sharpen their leadership ability as well as strengthen the impact of their role at C – Suite, Board, and Executive Committee levels.
It is developed for women at C Suite and women at board and executive levels who seek to develop reflectively and intentionally, who want to acquire self-mastery skills and skills on effectively leading high-performance teams, and serving on boards with personal excellence. The Programme also aims at enabling participants to leave a positive legacy, while developing the holistic personal and professional aspects of one’s life, character and personal brand.
Benefits of the Programme
There are several benefits to the targeted categories of women accrued from this Programme, these include:
- The coaching element is built around two factors: personal, and peer element
- Participants get to receive speed mentoring from WCD members
- Participants receive a leadership assessment which is carried out under the highest parameters and helps with the target of improving self-mastery
- The Programme exposes participants to seasoned local and international business practitioners of the highest calibre
- Within the Programme, participants get to share ideas with fellow professionals and network
- An opportunity to become members of the Strathmore Business School alumni, and tap into the networking and business opportunities that result from this
- The Programme offers participants access to literature on leadership, as well as significant role models
- The participants in the Programme get access to a mix of experienced and multifunctional peers.
Programme Delivery and Structure
The Women Directors Leadership Programme is preceded by an orientation which covers the topics to be covered, an introduction to the case study method as well as what to expect from the journey.
The Programme is divided into 3 modules:
Module I: Incisive Self Mastery and is hosted at Strathmore University Business School
Module II: Global and Next Best Practices, Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom
Module III: Harnessing your Leadership and Board Legacy and is hosted in Amboseli National Park in Kenya
The Programme also includes intra-modular activities like Personal Executive Coaching, Peer Leadership coaching, Speed Mentoring with WCD members and MBTI & FIRO B Assessments.
