Leaders of Chinese Huangpai Foods and The Revolutionary Guards hand over their relief donations to the Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda

As Uganda faces an unprecedented challenge with communities everywhere affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, most especially the 14- day lockdown which has seen businesses come to a halt and several Ugandans lose jobs, well-wishers from all sectors have come together to help respond to this catastrophe following President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s appeal to all able individuals to contribute towards this national cause.

The President asked for cars, money and food donations which would then be distributed to families affected by the lockdown.

In response to this call, China Huangpai Food Machines, a Chinese firm has donated 40 tonnes of food. The consignment consisting of 30 tonnes of maize flour and 10 tonnes of wheat flour- all valued at UGX120 million.

While handing over the food, to the Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who is also the head of COVID-19 Response Taskforce, the General Manager of Huangpai Foods, Mr. Nelson Ojwiya Christopher assured the Prime Minister of their continued support and promised to look out for more support.

Mr. Ojwiya was flanked by two company directors, Mr. Li Quang and Mr. Li Feng.

China Huangpai Food Machines manufactures food and agro machinery and has over 20 years’ experience.

The Prime Minister also received from 5 tonnes of maize flour from The Revolutionary Guards- a group of professional cadres aligned to the ruling National Resistance Movement.

“The Revolutionary Guards is a strong group of Professional NRM cadres that believe in withholding and protecting the efforts of the revolutionaries that fought for the Country,” the group’s chairman, Mr. Okello Francis told the Prime Minister.

They also vowed to use their structure of cadres countrywide to volunteer in the effort of fighting this global pandemic in Uganda.

The two groups- China Huangpai Food Machines and The Revolutionary guards, were presented to the Prime Minister by strong NRM movement Cadres, led by Mr. Denis Ogandi and Mr. Nzaire Sedrack; the young brother of President Museveni who also doubles as party chairman for Kiruhura District.
