Amongst the Bantu people of Uganda, the word, “Kabira” means “Little Forest”. And indeed, this is what Kabira Country Club is― a little forest in the city, an Oasis, in the heart of Kampala. It is nestled amongst trees— some of them age-old tropical species, as well as planted palms.

The wind whistling through the trees and palms and the cacophony of birds in and around the hotel provide a sort of balance against the busy Old Kiira Road, along which the hotel is built.

Kabira Country Club-a member of the Speke Group of Hotels, Uganda’s leading hotel chain is renowned for its combination of modernity, proximity and a rich repertoire of activities.

The hotel’s owners, recently gave it a facelift, further enhancing the customer experience. The newly renovated rooms were redesigned to enhance comfort as well as complement its natural environment.

The swimming pool at Kabira is one of the largest in Kampala. The hotel also has other facilities like a modern and well-equipped health club, a kids pool, as well as tennis, basketball, football and squash courts.

Visitors can now enjoy a better experience at The Pub bar which has been redone as well as indulge themselves at the multi-cuisine restaurant.

The Pub overlooks the swimming pool and the courtyard, extending from the restaurant, bar and coffee shop, thus creating the intimacy of a private home’s outdoor dining experience. Its proximity to the playroom and the swimming pool makes for the perfect blend of formal and informal dinner settings.

The Pub serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a one-of-a-kind Mongolian Night experience adjacent to the restaurant every Friday between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The Mongolian experience offers a variety of meats—fish, pork, goats’ meat, chicken, and beef.

Bake-O-Logy, the new café and bakery now offers, a wide range of confectionaries and bread to cater to clients’ sweet cravings.

The health club too, long known to be one of the best-equipped health clubs in Kampala, has also been given a retouch. Clients can now enjoy the latest equipment at the gym. The club also offers other facilities, such as a half Olympic-size swimming pool, a kids pool, as well as tennis, basketball, football and squash courts.

The Pub as well as Bake-o-logy, the inhouse cafe and bakery have been retrofitted and the menus widened for a more delightful experience.

In an interview with CEO East Africa Magazine, Ajit Singh, the Kabira Country Club General Manager said, the renovation has been done to align with the “changing needs and preferences of guests.”

“Considering the new trends, we have renovated our rooms to make them more modern with the latest fittings, equipment and looks,” he said.

Following the renovations, guests now have a variety of options that include:

3-Bedroom Penthouse Suites

The renovated penthouses with varying ambience are spacious enough to accommodate a family/group of 6 people. The penthouses come with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a wide balcony overlooking the swimming pool. This is probably the best accommodation deal for a family of 6 people.

The penthouse suites also come with large and well-equipped kitchens.

2-Bedroom Suites

The hotel’s two-bedroom suites have been renovated with modern fixtures and facilities. They also now come with a wide balcony overlooking the swimming pool. We recommend these for a long-staying family of 4.

Quaint Cottages

These refurbished cottages give off a natural feel. The cottages also come with a private garden- just the extra space you need for your private enjoyments- be it birthday parties, small retreats or just mediation and or self-discovery moments. We also recommend this for long-staying guests.

The cottages have wide living rooms.

One Bedroom Suite

The renovated one-bedroom suite comes with completely a new look, a wide balcony, a kitchen and a living room. It too overlooks the swimming pool and/or tennis and basketball courts.

The 1-bedroom suites also come with large-enough rooms and beds.

Studio Rooms

The renovated studio rooms have been re-equipped and are well-appointed to offer guests, a comfortable stay and come with enviable views of the leafy Naguru hill.

According to Ajit, Kabira Club, being advantageously located away from the city centre, yet so close, is perfect for both short and long stays.

“We do have very attractive rates as well as discounts for especially long stays and large groups,” he says, adding that the hotel also has large indoor and outdoor venues for parties and conferences.
