Federation of Uganda Football Association’s partnership with telecom giants Airtel Uganda received a boost on November 5 as the official sponsor of national football team, the Cranes, renewed its commitment in the marriage.

In the new arrangement, Airtel will contribute a total of Shs10 billion toward the Uganda Cranes for the next four years, with Shs2.5 billion dispatched every year.

The Airtel-FUFA partnership, that has come to be known as Uganda’s most successful football partnership ever following Uganda Cranes’ qualification for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, begun in 2013 under an agreement that the two parties will be working hand in hand to promote Ugandan football for a period of four years by sponsoring not only the main national team, but also the Uganda Cup and the FUFA Big League – tournaments that feed talent into the national team.

Charles Bakkabulindi, the State Minister for Sports, commended Airtel Uganda for fulfilling the promise to continue supporting football in the country.
