Over 500  marketing specialists and practitioners from across the African continent will converge in the lakeside Ugandan town of Entebbe, approximately 40 kilometres southwest of Kampala, the capital city, for the second annual African Marketing Confederation (AMC) Conference, come the 6th to the 9th of September 2023.

AMC is a pioneering Pan-African body of marketing professionals striving to promote and maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and integrity among the marketing fraternity of the continent. As the umbrella body for African marketing associations, institutes and organisations, the AMC unifies various countries’ bodies to facilitate the exchange of expertise, information and intellectual capital by providing a platform to grow and support marketing leaders in Africa.

The African Marketers Conference will take place at the prestigious Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel, by the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake and the second largest in the world. 

This year’s conference will be held under the theme: “Africa’s $3.4 Trillion Economy: Opportunities for Marketers” and will be hosted by the Uganda Marketers Society (UMS), the leading organisation for marketing professionals in Uganda.

Alongside the African Marketers Conference, leading technology experts, innovators, entrepreneurs and thought leaders from across the African continent, under their body⏤ the Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICONA) will also hold the inaugural TICONA Conference, under the theme “Unifying ICT Talents to Power the Continent to 2030 and Beyond”. 

The TICONA conference will also take place at the same dates and venue as the African Marketers Conference.

Addressing a media conference on 13th June 2023,  David Balikuddembe, the President of the Uganda Marketers Society said that hosting the African Marketing Confederation brings immense opportunities for Uganda and its marketers as it positions Uganda as a destination for marketing excellence and fosters international collaborations and partnerships. 

“This conference aims to showcase the untapped potential of Africa’s vast market, providing attendees with valuable insights and tools to explore new business opportunities. Compelling keynote speeches, interactive sessions and panel discussions will equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to tap into Africa’s unique market,” said Mr. Balikuddembe.

“Marketing specialists and practitioners across the continent are urged to attend, including chief marketing officers and vice presidents of marketing; marketing directors, analysts, coordinators, managers and consultants; marketing and promotions managers, digital marketers and data specialists. TICONA- fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among technology professionals in Africa 

Addressing the media in Kampala at MoTiv Uganda offices, Elizabeth Ntege, the Chairperson of the ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU), the hosts of the TICONA Conference said that the conference will “feature a technology showcase, providing a platform for startups, innovators, and technology companies to showcase their cutting-edge solutions, products and services”.

ICTAU is a private sector-led association bringing together key stakeholders within the ICT Sector in Uganda under one body capable of supporting/promoting ICT awareness, research and advocacy projects and policies concerning the adoption and usage of ICTs by the underserved and unreached in Uganda. ICTAU also facilitates effective networking between all practitioners, researchers, policymakers, government and industry to facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration in the development of the ICT sector in Uganda.
