Japheth Katto (L) and Josepha Ndamira have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to their different roles

Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited Japheth Katto and Josepha Ndamira received extraordinary recognition by their peers at this year’s Non-Executive Director Awards, which recognize outstanding leaders on the corporate boards of businesses and not-for-profit organisations across Uganda and East African region.

Katto, Chairman of the Board, Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL) was recognized for his outstanding leadership under the ‘Listed Companies Category’ while Ndamira, who is a director on the board of Stanbic Bank Uganda was recognised as the “NED to watch.’ 

Appointed to the SUHL Board Chair in 2014, Mr. Katto holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honors degree from Makerere University and is a Fellow of ACCA and a member of ICPAU. He has over 30 years’ experience in capital markets, investment, trade, and industry. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Markets Authority of Uganda from 1998 to 2013 and held several senior positions in financial services regulation in the UK. He has also held various accounting and auditing roles in organisations and firms in East Africa and the United Kingdom.

Ndamira is a dynamic professional; she is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and member of the Certified Public Accountants (Uganda). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Makerere University and a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School (Heriot Watt University).

She has over fifteen years of professional experience in external and internal auditing and has worked within several industries including, energy, civil society, telecommunications, financial services, and accounting practice within a big four audit firms. She is currently the Director of Audit and Assurance at TradeMark East Africa, the largest aid for trade organization with over USD500million in funding from various development agencies.
