The Uganda Digital Society (UDS) has signed a landmark partnership with the National ICT Innovation Hub (NIIH) under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
This collaboration is designed to strengthen the Uganda Digital Innovation Ecosystem and position Uganda as a regional ICT entrepreneurship hub.
Uganda’s youthful population remains the driving force of the digital economy, shaping innovation in fintech, e-commerce, health tech, and agritech.
Many of these solutions are enhanced by Artificial Intelligence, reflecting the country’s potential to compete globally.
UDS President John Ssenkeezi said the partnership will connect talent to opportunity and fuel economic transformation.
“Uganda’s digital community is rich with talent and ideas. By joining hands with the National ICT Innovation Hub, we are creating an ecosystem where ideas can grow into businesses, where skills can translate into jobs, and where innovation can power national development,” he explained.
The partnership will expand mentorship and training programs while strengthening incubation and acceleration initiatives at the Hub.
It will also link startups to national and international networks, opening new pathways for scaling regionally and globally.
Flavia Opio, the Team Lead at NIIH, emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond technology and directly impacts lives.
“Innovation is about more than technology; it’s about transforming lives. This partnership with UDS shows our commitment to unlock opportunities for our founders to dream bigger, grow stronger, and compete globally,” she said.
The Uganda Digital Society continues to play a central role in digital skills development and professional standards for practitioners.
Its mission is to foster collaboration between public and private sectors while nurturing a workforce that drives the Uganda Digital Innovation Ecosystem.
The National ICT Innovation Hub, located in Nakawa at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) campus, provides innovators with space, internet, mentorship, and advisory services.
It has supported startups in payments, health, and agritech, becoming a cornerstone of Uganda’s innovation ecosystem.
This partnership builds on NIIH’s achievements and aligns with Uganda Vision 2040, the Digital Transformation Roadmap, and the National Development Plan IV.
By combining resources and raising ethical standards, UDS and NIIH are positioning Uganda as Africa’s next Business Process Outsourcing and digital transformation powerhouse.
