Stella Ladona Wattanga, currently the Head of Legal and Company Secretary, Cairo Bank Uganda is a banking and Legal Professional with 10 years’ experience driving organizational growth and operational efficiency through formulation and review of strategies and policies to ensure compliance with international best practice and existing law
She joined the Bank in 2019 and led it though a complex process of rebranding and changing its shareholding and name as a strategy to cement its place in the Ugandan banking industry.
Before this career move, she was the Head Legal and Company Secretary at GTBank Uganda Limited. Her first bank placement was as a legal officer with Ecobank Uganda Limited in 2010 and later Diamond Trust Bank Limited.
She is a member of the Ugandan Bar, holds a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town and Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University.
Stella is passionate about the banking sector and mentors young people particularly women and girls to take up managerial roles in this field. She believes that this is a first step towards ensuring that they are central to decision making on the future of the sector. She is married and has 3 Children.
