Irene Mutyaba Kabiri is currently the Corporate Banking Director at Absa Bank Uganda Limited. She joined the bank in January 2021. Irene brings on board a wealth of experience and expertise in the financial services industry with International expertise gained over a career spanning 16 years.
She previously worked with Standard Chartered Bank for the last 16 years having joined as a Banking officer. She steadily grew through the ranks taking on a Relationship Manager role where she was responsible for looking after a number of clients spanning across various segments with a major focus on the Local Corporates clientele. In 2013, she was promoted to Head the Africa and Middle East corridor business out of the United Arab Emirates and thus responsible for growing all client businesses out of Africa operating within the Middle East. She then returned to Standard Chartered Bank Uganda to Head the Global, International and Commodity Corporate clients until her promotion to Head of Global Banking – Corporate and Institutional Banking.
Irene holds a Bachelor’s degree from Makerere University and is currently pursuing at MBA at the Durham Business School.
Irene is passionate about workplace diversity and Inclusion and dedicates time to grow and nurture young people. She believed that people are the greatest asset any organization can ever have and always worthwhile to invest in them.
