United Bank for Africa (UBA) has appointed Kenneth Kisambira as its Managing Director/CEO for Uganda.
Mr. Kisambira, who was previously the Executive Director since June 2022, replaces Ms. Chioma Mang, who has been the bank’s head since December 2020.
Chioma Mang, early this year caused a stir in the market, when she briefly left Uganda to take up an Executive Director role at Nigeria’s Keystone Bank.
She was on January 10, 2024 announced by the Central Bank of Nigeria as the new Executive Director of Keystone Bank, following the Nigerian central bank’s dissolution of the Board and Management of three banks⏤Union Bank, Keystone Bank, and Polaris Bank.
She however in the same month, returned back to her job in Uganda, after what appears to be a sweeter offer by United Bank for Africa.
Mr Kisambira, also, between June 2021 and June 2022 headed the bank’s Corporate & Commercial Banking.
Before UBA, he spent 8 years at Orient Bank (now I&M Bank Uganda) in various roles, rising to become Head of Corporate Banking, between April 2016 and April 20221. He has also worked for Standard Chartered Bank and Barclays Bank (now Absa Bank Uganda).
He wields significant experience with key knowledge in corporate & commercial credit, accounting & finance, trade finance & structuring, business strategy execution and implementation, corporate governance and team leadership.
He holds Masters In Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School in Scotland), Bachelors degree from Uganda Martyrs University and various on job professional training.
