Regardless of the endless rants and beneath all this politicking and gesturing there is a real story of success, transformation and happiness and of course the occasional challenges, which for some naysayers, have been over blown to calamitous proportions.

First, local farmers in oil rich Hoima District and the surrounding districts are begin to reap from having a ready market for their produce due to the sudden growth of urban dwellers in Hoima, with ready cash to spend, something that has pushed commodity prices up.

Unlike a few years ago, today organized farmers are able to sell their produce to oil camps, hotels, restaurants and urban dwellers at a relatively higher price. And to ensure quality and standards, Tullow Oil in partnership with Traidlinks, an Irish non profit organization, have established the Hoima Enterprise Centre in Hoima to support local businesses gain access to business training, information on emerging opportunities and services to support business development.

Hive of activity

 Today, Hoima town which was relatively calm,  is now a hive of  activity, because of what Stephen Mbabazi, a bonafide resident of Hoima Municipality calls the ‘scramble and partition’ of Hoima. “Unless you haven’t been to Hoima before, we have witnessed tremendous developments in this area due to oil excitement; banks are opening up branches, real estate business is booming, people are ever increasing and farmers have market for their produce,
