The new members of the senior management team representing different departments

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has announced new appointments in its Corporate Services, Domestic Taxes, Customs and Internal Audit & Compliance departments.

This follows the recent appointments to its Senior Management team including that of Abel Kagumire, the new Commissioner Customs who replaced Dicksons Kateshumbwa, Richard Kariisa, now Commissioner Corporate Services and John Tinka Katungwensi, Assistant Commissioner Large Tax Payer office to the tax governing body’s senior management team.

In its public notice, URA stated; ‘’The public is hereby informed about new senior management appointments in our Corporate Services, Domestic Taxes, Customs and Internal Audit & Compliance departments. We congratulate the new members of our leadership team’’

The official appointments include Julie Njuba Kiwanuka who has now been appointed Assistant Commissioner Business Policy, Domestic Taxes Dept.

Newly Joining the Management team also includes James Abola who has been appointed Assistant Commissioner Staff Compliance, Internal Audit& Compliance Department- A team leader of Akamai Global, James is also a regular writer in business and personal Finance. His experience can be traced back to his 6 years as the Finance Director of MIS Consulting for IDEAS a research and IT firm. He also boasts 6 years experience in the banking sector from various capacities including in Marketing, Branch supervision, branch marketing&operations among others

Meanwhile, Asadu Kisitu Kigozi, a seasoned Customs Manager with over 18 years of experience in areas of customs valuation, tariff(commodity classification), cargo examination, border management, transit cargo management, Risk Management and international trade has  been appointed Assistant Commissioner Trade, Customs Dept. Asadu has served at URA for over 20 years since June 2000 as customs manager  responsible for positioning Uganda Customs in 10 years from now in the larger Uganda Revenue Authority strategy.  He is also been  a member of the National Curriculum Implementation Committee of the East African Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate Course and Customs Module leader as well as trainer in the same course.  He holds Masters of Business Administration from Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute, Arusha

Also, part of the new management team is Lydia Nsibambi Mulondo who has been appointed Assistant Commissioner Learning, and Development Corporate Services Dept. An experienced Management Development Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the government administration industry. Lydia has been at URA for 5 year, having held several roles. She joined URA in Jan 2008 Head of Performance Management & Organization Development. Since then, she has grown through the ranks to top positions including; Member of the HR Modernization Project, Head of Human Resource Management and Head of Learning & Development

She also served as Chairperson of National Curriculum Implementation Committee (NCIC) – Uganda between 2012 and March 2013 as well as Head of the Human Resources Subcommittee for East African Revenue Authorities Technical Committee (EARATC) in 2012 where she was responsible was responsible for harmonizing and instituting best practice and robust Systems, Processes and Regulatory Frameworks to govern effective Human Capital Management in the respective Revenue Authorities.

Lydia holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA from East & Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI)
