Covae is a business advisory firm that provides, cost and project management, oilfield services, valuation surveys and environmental management solutions.
Covae started operations in 2004 as a surveying practice. Since 2018, the company has grown its services base to offer technical solutions and project management.
Biribonwa, the co-founder, is a seasoned strategic commercial expert with a remarkable track record spanning over 24 years of international leadership experience. He specializes in delivering large infrastructure Engineering, Procurement and Construction developments across diverse sectors, including oil and gas, in countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, and the United Kingdom.
In his role as Chief Commercial Officer, Biribonwa has developed key skill sets in project services, business development management, and commercial management. He supports clients in establishing best practices crucial for the success of any built project. Biribonwa’s expertise extends to acting as a development manager, guiding clients through challenges such as structuring, financing, construction, and off-take risks.
He has played a pivotal role in shaping project cost management in Uganda’s nascent oil sector.
His contributions include developing policies and procedures for operational cost tracking, value engineering, and budgets, facilitating the successful delivery of over 120 exploration wells and three major supply base developments in East Africa for Tullow Oil.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Biribonwa demonstrates a commitment to maximizing local content and fostering international partnerships through his company, COVAE.
His collaboration with international entities such as EDG and Actemium empowers Ugandan women and men with sector knowledge and experiences in oilfield services thereby contributing to the growth and development of local talent and expertise.
He holds a BSc (HON) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Portsmouth; Petroleum Project Management from PetroSkills, Houston, USA; and African Petroleum Contracts at CWC School of Energy, UK.
