
KAMPALA, UGANDA- The Government of Uganda is targeting 22% rural connectivity by 2022, and it is anticipated that about a third of the population will benefit best from off-grid solutions according to Benon Bena the acting Deputy Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency.
He says, however, while vast areas of Uganda can be served with affordable grid-like electricity from renewable energy mini-grids, only a handful of projects have got off the ground due to policy and regulatory issues.
