Q1. What is the Centre for Media Innovations & Sustainability (CMIS Africa), and why was it established? CMIS Africa is a new initiative designed to rebuild and future-proof Africa’s journalism ecosystem—starting right here in Uganda. We are responding to a media environment that’s under-resourced, under-skilled, and under pressure from political and commercial interests. Journalism is too important to be left to chance. Our job is to equip journalists, media entrepreneurs, and media startups with the skills, resources, and networks they need to produce accurate, ethical, and impactful journalism—especially in the sectors that matter most for our development.
