Civil society funding in Uganda

After a year-long suspension of its activities in Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni has finally revised his decision and lifted the ban on Democratic Governance Facility (DGF), a civil society funding body. Today, Wednesday 22nd June 2022, President Museveni hosted the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation. “We discussed a number of bilateral issues. I also agreed to lift the ban on Democratic Governance Facility (DGF), to run till December 2022, with Government represented in the decision-making structures.” He has put a condition for reopening DGF’s operations stating that government should be represented in the body’s decision making structures.
