The meals when ordered get to your table in 10-20 minutes flat. The waiter saunters through tables with cutlery, glasses and food balancing on fingers with expertise. The prices are comparably reasonable. The most times I have been there, I find the staff helpful and warm. To crown it all are the tranquil grounds, the Olympic size swimming pool, a sailing club and horse riding experience.
In history, Kabaka Mwanga who ordered the burning of the Uganda martyrs loved Munyonyo so much that he ordered the digging of Lake Katwe to connect with Munyonyo. He loved regatta as a sport.
Former president Idi Amin Dada admired him so much and named his son Mwanga. He too had live band performances there while entertaining his harem and state guests during his regime. Residents are known to ask for rooms where Col. Muamar Gadaffi, Robert Mugabe or other dignitaries slept.
