Although the discovery of oil and gas in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda presents huge inflow of the much needed petro- dollars, how well these countries benefit from their finds, will largely depend on how cost effectively the countries decide to manage the downstream (production and distribution) of this new found resource, a report by African Alliance has advised.
The November 2013 report released by the Uganda chapter of African Alliance an investment banking group operating in Africa, specifically advises on regional cooperation so as to “protect sovereign interests, build local refining capacity, negating the chances of creating overcapacity in the region, making projects financially viable and attracting potential investors
