Serengeti Breweries taps UBL’s Alfred Balikagira as its Operations Director

Serengeti Breweries Ltd has appointed Alfred Balikagira as its Operations Director – effective 01 November 2022.

Alfred has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing operations at both operational and executive levels.

He is currently the Supply Chain Director for Uganda Breweries Limited, a position he has held for the last 2 years and 9 months. Under his leadership, the Supply function has delivered a number of Capital projects including Brewing expansion, packaging line 5 completion as well as the recently launched Biomass project. Notable awards that UBL has received under his leadership include the most coveted Diageo’s Brewery of the year in 2021 and the Safety and Wellness award in 2022. Alfred is also very passionate about People and their development.

Prior to this, he held the position of Brewery Operations Director for ABInBev, Uganda, and South Sudan operations, where he was responsible for the supply operations of the two plants in Uganda and one in South Sudan.

He had previously held the role of Technical Director at Maluti Mountain Brewery, SABMiller in Lesotho during which period the brewery attained recognition among the most improved breweries within the Africa Group Operations.

Alfred has also served in various technical roles in the Brewing, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Development functions including Plant Manager for Nile Breweries Limited, Jinja Plant, and Unit Manager in Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda.

He holds a post-graduate Diploma in brewing science & distilling from The Institute of Brewing and Distilling

He also holds Makerere University Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry
