State Minister for Labour Mwesigwa Rukutana has been declared the duly elected NRM flag bearer for the Rushenyi Constituency Member of Parliament 2020 after polling the highest number of votes compared to his competitors.
According to declaration results for the Rushenyi Constituency, signed by Dr Tanga odoi, the Chairperson NRM Electoral Commission, Mwesigwa Rukutana polled 25,310 votes accounting for 46.27% beating his closest rival Naome Kabasharira who polled 25,290 votes (46.23%).
Others are Nahabwe Bob who got 2,270 votes (4.15%), Niwahereza Nicolus 1,229 (2.25%), Beingana Norman Kashereka 350 (0.64%) and Elia Rwagara Mwesigwa 256 (0.47%)

Kabasharira supporters protest
Supporters of Naome Kabasharira last week blocked Ntungamo-Kabale road with stones and burnt tyres, protesting the decision by Mr Tanga Odoi, to cancel the victory of their candidate as the party flag bearer.
Police was forced to shoot in the air to disperse the protesters who had closed the highway that leads to Kabale, Kisoro and to the border with Rwanda and DR Congo.
