Monica Sanyu, Host of the Ignite Lead Summit 2025, believes that the future of leadership belongs to those who lead with both head and heart—empowering teams through empathy, agility, and purpose.

What inspired you to create the Ignite Lead Summit 2025?

The Ignite Lead Summit was inspired by a simple yet powerful truth: an organisation is only as strong as its leaders, and leaders ultimately shape the culture within it. When leaders lose inspiration, the entire organisation feels the ripple effect.

The idea for the Ignite Lead Summit 2025 grew from a deep conviction that middle managers need greater support in their leadership journeys — to evolve into impactful leaders who can, in turn, empower their teams and organisations to reach their full potential. This vision aligns perfectly with MP3’s tagline, “Empowering You to Achieve Your Full Potential.”

Why is this the right time for a leadership conversation built around agility, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and human-centred AI?

I believe the right time is now. Uganda’s workplace is evolving rapidly, driven by a young, dynamic workforce, accelerating digital growth, and rising competition. Today’s leaders need more than just technical expertise — they must be able to inspire their teams, adapt with agility, and harness technology to empower people.

At this critical juncture, the Ignite Lead Summit is creating a space for leaders to reflect on how we can lead with both head and heart. Because the future will not belong to the most intelligent leaders alone, but to those who are emotionally intelligent, adaptable, and deeply human in their approach to leadership.

As a leadership and HR professional, what gaps or challenges did you observe in Ugandas corporate landscape that this summit aims to address?

Uganda’s corporate landscape has evolved rapidly, driven by technology, shifting customer expectations, and a workforce that increasingly seeks purpose and inclusion. This new world of work demands leaders who are not only skilled but also adaptable and emotionally intelligent — leaders who can lead not just with their minds, but with their hearts.

From my experience, there’s a noticeable gap between technical competence and human-centred leadership. Many middle managers, team leaders, and section heads possess the expertise to deliver results, yet they often need more support to truly inspire, empower, and motivate their teams — not just to show up, but to show up as their best selves every day.

The Ignite Lead Summit was created to bridge that gap. It’s about reigniting purpose in leaders, equipping them to lead with empathy, adapt with agility, and build cultures rooted in trust, inclusion, and accountability.

The theme is quite powerful — Building Impactful Leaders. Driving Excellence. What does this mean to you personally and professionally?

Over my two decades in HR, I’ve seen how empowered middle managers and team leaders can completely transform workplaces when they have the right mindset, skills, and self-awareness. They’re the heartbeat of any organisation – the ones who boost engagement, drive results, and shape culture every day.

Personally, this theme resonates because I believe leadership is about influence and impact, not just authority. And professionally, it highlights the urgent need to build leaders who can inspire their teams, navigate change, and deliver excellence consistently — because that’s what truly drives sustainable organisational growth.

What does impactful leadership” look like in the context of todays business world?

Impactful leadership today is so much more than delivering on targets – it’s about inspiring people, leading with empathy, and adapting with agility in a world that’s constantly changing. It’s that kind of leadership that fuels innovation, trust, and real results.

And that’s exactly what the Ignite Lead Summit is about – equipping leaders to lead with purpose, connect deeply with their teams, and create impact that truly lasts.

How does this theme tie into the evolving realities of the workplace – especially with automation, AI, hybrid work, and changing workforce expectations?

That theme – Building Impactful Leaders. Driving Excellence. –  really captures what today’s workplace demands. We’re in an era shaped by AI, automation, hybrid work, and a workforce that values purpose and flexibility. To thrive, leaders need more than technical know-how – they need empathy, agility, and the ability to inspire across both physical and virtual spaces.

So, this theme is about preparing leaders to navigate that complexity – to harness technology without losing the human touch, and to drive excellence by connecting, empowering, and truly engaging their teams.

What are some of the most pressing leadership and talent management challenges youre seeing in organisations today?

Today, many leaders are grappling with skill gaps, the challenge of developing and retaining great talent, and the growing pressure that often leads to stress or burnout. And when leaders are stretched that thin, it inevitably impacts team performance and engagement.

What we’re seeing is that organisations need to invest more intentionally in leadership development and wellbeing – helping leaders build the resilience, emotional intelligence, and people skills needed to keep teams motivated and connected, even in demanding times.

Can you share more about the diversity of the speaker lineup and how their different backgrounds add depth to the conversation?

We’re bringing together participants from private companies, NGOs, and public institutions, which makes the learning experience incredibly rich and diverse.

By the end of the Summit, leaders will walk away with clear insights into their leadership style and impact, greater clarity, confidence, and emotional intelligence, and practical tools to communicate effectively, lead change, and balance empathy with accountability. Most importantly, they’ll return to their organisations energised, aligned, and ready to drive strategic goals.
