Pearl Bank, whose purpose is to foster prosperity for Ugandans, has donated water tanks and assorted food items to the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in celebration of Ramadan and Women’s Month, two key highlights during this season.
The month of March is worldwide recognized as Women’s Month, with March 8 celebrated as International Women’s Day to recognize the role women play in society at various stages of life.
This year, March also coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan, which will climax on March 20, 2026, with Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
In recognition of the two key calendar events, Pearl Bank, through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) pillar of Education, extended support in the form of water tanks and assorted food items to the IUIU Daawa Liaison Community Outreach. The support specifically targeted students residing at the university’s Summayyah and Abu-Mayanja hostels.
Pearl Bank Mbale Branch Manager Arafat Zaake said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting communities during the holy season.
“Muslims worldwide observe Ramadan through fasting, communal prayer and reflection. As a bank, we are pleased to collaborate with the IUIU community and offer assorted food items to support students as they break their fast and prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr,” Zaake said.
He added that women play a central role in both family and society, noting that providing sustainable access to clean water helps create an environment where they can thrive.
“When we ensure access to clean water, we empower women and enable them to grow and prosper. That is why the bank is pleased to donate two 10,000-litre water tanks to expand water access,” Zaake added.

Zaake also noted that fasting reflects commitment to spiritual growth and sacrifice, and commended Muslims observing the holy month. He said Pearl Bank continues to place communities at the center of its work, explaining that the food donations were meant to help students celebrate Eid and ensure access to essential needs such as clean water.
The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Assoc. Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, thanked the bank for the timely support.
“This support has come at the right time. Our students will benefit from the Eid token, and the water tanks will help ensure a steady water supply whenever it is needed,” Gyagenda said.
As a socially responsible entity, Pearl Bank has participated in several Corporate Social Investment initiatives guided by its Scale, Impact and Sustainability (SIS) agenda.
These initiatives focus on six key areas: Humanitarian Support, Education & Sports, Social Enterprise, Environment, and Financial Literacy.
Pearl Bank Uganda, formerly PostBank Uganda, continues to stay true to its purpose of fostering prosperity for Ugandans. The bank is guided by two high-impact goals: driving sustainable financial inclusion and stimulating entrepreneurship and service.
The bank says it will continue championing initiatives that complement government efforts aligned with the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), which aims to accelerate Uganda’s socio-economic transformation by 2040.
