The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) managing director Silver Mugisha has been reappointed as the vice-president on the Executive Board of the African Water Association.
Eng. Dr. Mugisha was reappointed to the position during the 19th Congress of the African Water Association and Annual General Meeting in Bamako, Mali, last week.

The African Water Association brings together water and sanitation sector players on the African continent with an aim of facilitating capacity development of utilities, research and projects focused on solutions for water and sanitation management and influencing sector policy by providing sound professional viewpoints on emerging issues on the African continent.
Eng Mugisha, who took over at NWSC in August 2013 after the corporation had nearly spent two years toiling to find a substantive managing director, said that NWSC is a member of the African Water Association (AFWA) at continental level and a member of the International water Association (IWA) on the International stage.
“The affiliations are creating opportunities to learn global best practices, share best practises from Uganda and benchmark on modern service delivery models for better service delivery in Uganda,” Mugisha said.
At the same event in Mali, NWSC director of business and scientific services, Dr Rose Kaggwa, was confirmed as the second president of the Association Scientific and Technical Council.
Last year, Mugisha was elected the first African Vice president of International Water Association.
Since taking over at the helm of NWSC, Mugisha has turned the corporation into one that is currently hailed as the the best functional public utility in the country and one of the best on the continent.
