The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) annual Career Expo began today at Makerere University, targeting to register at least 5000 finalists across the five major universities in Uganda.
The expo marks the start of a series of career events to be held, between 22nd April and 29th May, 2015, at five leading universities including Makerere University Business School, Ndejje University, Uganda Christian University, and Nkumba University.
Now in its fourth year, the expo is expected to attract over 20,000 students who will get professional career advice and engage with potential employers. Last year, the expo was attended by over 15,000 students.
Speaking at the event, NSSF Deputy Managing Director Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa said the career expo is designed to prepare students for the work place environment and to equip them with knowledge and skills to increase their chances of getting employed.
“Students will have an opportunity to register with NSSF so that when they get employment, they already have their social security numbers and do not have to register again. The career expo will also offer students professional career advice as well as give them an opportunity to engage with potential employers,
