President Yoweri Museveni became the first presidential candidate to be nominated at the Kyambogo University grounds today morning.
Museveni who arrived at the nomination venue in Kyambogo University Grounds a few minutes after 10am was the first candidate to be nominated among others to follow.
President Museveni who now goes by the names Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa is running on the ideology ‘Securing your future.’
“I, Justice Simon Byabakama, declare Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa, a duly nominated presidential candidate for the 2021 general election.”
The president after being nominated stated: “I thank the Electoral Commission for nominating me. I also thank the NRM supporters in the villages and across for nominating me, we got more than enough signatures.”
After being nominated, President Museveni will now launch his 2021- 2026 election manifesto of the promises he and his National Resistance Movement (NRM) party commit to do for Ugandans in the five years if he is reelected

Museveni’s 2021-2026 contest will be run on the ideology‘Securing your future’ by which he believes the country is now ready for take-off.
Since his first election in 1996, President Museveni has run under different ideologies, from Tackling the Tasks Ahead (1996-2001), to Consolidating the Achievements (2001-2006), Prosperity for All (2006-2011), Better Service Delivery and Job Creation (2011-2016); and, Taking Uganda to Modernity through Job-creation and inclusive development (2016-2021).
Some 2021-2026 manifesto key points include; Industrialisation, Education, Health and Water, Justice and equity, as well as Land consolidation, among others.
The general elections will be held in February 2021, with about 15 million Ugandans expected to take part in voting for their candidates of choice.
