DSTv subscribers will from now on enjoy being in charge of what they view on Tv. This follows the introduction of the DSTv Box Office product which allows viewers to download the latest blockbuster releases with a PVR decoder or online. Aside from the pirated copies, new movies in Uganda are only watched in cinemas and viewers can only access them on TV after a long period of time. This service brings new films to the customer’s living room.
According to MultiChoice Uganda CEO Charles Hamya, Uganda’s TV industry is changing fast.
“There are 3 trends taking shape in the TV industry currently. The first one is on technology. As you all know we are moving away from analogue to digital broadcasting. This will enable viewers access more services. The second one is device evolution. Over the top services where one can be able to watch television content off the internet on mobile devices is fast catching up. In addition, there is also a shift in consumer trends. People no longer want to watch what is scheduled by the service providers. They want to be in control of their viewing patterns and that is why we are introducing the Box Office,
