Miriam Musaali is the new Director Legal and Board Affairs at the Capital Markets Authority (CMA). She replaced Angela Kiryabwire effective November 1st 2020.
Prior to re-joining the CMA where she had previously worked as the Director Market Supervision, Miriam was the Acting Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer of Zamara Actuaries, Administrators and Consultants Uganda Limited (formerly Alexander Forbes Financial Services Uganda Limited).
She is an accomplished Legal Consultant and Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with local and regional experience in consulting, regulation and training within the financial services sector. She is a results oriented, decisive leader with proven success in development and implementation of corporate strategy.
Experience
Miriam has over 15 years’ experience in legal, regulatory and business within the financial services sector. As a Graduate Fellow of the Macro Economic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern & Southern Africa (MEFMI) she has specialized in supervision of non-bank financial Institutions with particular emphasis on pensions.
Miriam completed her Master of Laws (LLM) Degree at the University of Cambridge in 2006 with First Class Honors with specialization in; International Banking, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Settlement of International Disputes. She was awarded the David Pearl Prize by Fitz William College Cambridge and elected Senior Scholar of Fitz William College Cambridge (2005/2006). Miriam is a member of the Oxbridge Society of Uganda and a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments UK (CISI).
Miriam is sought after as a consultant, conference speaker and facilitator internationally and has facilitated workshops and seminars in Corporate Governance, Pensions and Capital Markets in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Malawi, Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda. Miriam has written various publications in the areas of Corporate Governance, Capital Markets and Pensions. Miriam is a trusted advisor to Corporate Boards and Boards of Trustees of Pension Funds.
