Lemala Wildwaters Lodge offers views of the mighty River Nile

Lemala Wildwaters Lodge is the world’s second most Instagrammable Hotel for 2022, according to a global contest organized by Luxury Travel Advisor. 

The Lodge came second to The Shore Club Turks and Caicos, in a tight race that saw the finalists go through six rounds of voting during which they had to overcome formidable competition from world class properties in Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Lemala got 70, 509 votes while The Shore Club, got 74,637 votes out of the total 145,000 representing Africa and Europe, and Latin America and Caribbean bracket respectively.

Lemala sits on a private island in the Nile River, with rushing rapids on one side, and soothing currents on the other.

As representative of the Europe and Africa bracket, Wildwaters Lodge in the semifinals took down the winner of the Asia, Indian Ocean and South Pacific champ, Marina Bay Sands In its “Final Four” matchup, it garnered just over 53 percent of the votes (5,745 to 5,076). The hotel defeated Santorini Secret Suites & Spa with nearly two-thirds of the vote (66 percent) in the “Elite Eight.”

Wildwaters Lodge, which upset last year’s runner-up Laqua Charme & Boutique with just over 79 percent of the vote in the opening round, eliminated the Shipwreck Lodge by getting 485 of 690 votes in the third round, then taking down Anantara New York Budapest Hotel in Round 2, by receiving just under 62 percent of the vote. The hotel sits on a private island in the Nile River, with rushing rapids on one side, and soothing currents on the other. Guests can enjoy from the property’s newly updated pool deck.
