Uganda needs to develop a strong leadership and management culture in order to build good governance and increase productivity in both the private and public sectors. According to Geoffrey Kiryabwire the Justice of the Court of Appeal, vices such as corruption which can cripple an economy are fuelled by lack of clear leadership styles. Kiryabwire who was addressing accountants at the just concluded Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) 19th annual seminar explained that accountability needs to be a unified effort.

“The leadership and management styles in most institutions in this country vary depending on the system and cultural approach taken by decision makers. We need to redefine our own brand of these styles and adopt models that are working in other countries. This will ensure increased productivity, continued improvement of systems as well as greater efficiency and effectiveness,
