Asmahaney Saad, the new Managing Partner of KTA Advocates

Uganda’s top law firm KTA Advocates has appointed Asmahaney Saad, as its incoming Managing Partner (in rotation) who takes over from the outgoing Managing Partner, Kenneth Muhangi. Kenneth, as Managing Partner Emeritus served from January 2020 to December 2021 and remains Partner Lead & Head of technology, media, telecommunications and intellectual property (TMT/IP) practice department of the firm.

An experienced advisor in Corporate, Governance, Commercial Transactions, Projects (including oil and gas) and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Asmahaney was called to the bar in 2008 and previously practiced as in-house counsel for international companies operating in Uganda’s telecom and oil and gas sectors.

Asmahaney joined KTA in December 2020 and will, as part of her docket continue to serve as Partner Lead and Head of KTA’s Corporate, Commercial and Projects (oil & gas) (CCP) practice department.

Asmahaney also serves as; Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda Ltd, Committee member on the first ever appointed Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) that advises the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development on the Petroleum Revenue Investment Reserve Fund, a Trustee to the Board Trustees of Greater Tomorrow African Initiative (GTAI) a Not for Profit Organization. She also served as the Secretary General Emeritus (2018-2020) to the Governing Council of the East African Law Society. She is an Accredited Chartered Mediator to the High Court of Uganda (Commercial Division), a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK and Chartered Mediator (MTI East Africa).

She has over 13 years’ extensive experience from advising on several matters including; Oil and Gas, Project Financing, Infrastructure Development, Mining, National Content (including Joint venture structuring) Regulatory and Compliance, Governance, Environment, Health and Safety, Trade and Investments.

Asmahaney holds a Bachelor’s of Laws LLB (Hons) from Makerere University, Dip. Lp. (Law Development Centre Kampala), MIBA (ESLSCA Paris), MBA (Oil & Gas), CIArb UK (Member),ACM (High Court Uganda) and is a Chartered Mediator (MTI.EA)
