Kenneth Kitariko Replaces Sophie Nkuutu As Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda’s Chairman

Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Kitariko as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, succeeding Ms. Sophie Nkuutu.

Mr. Kitariko has served on the Board since October 2021, chairing the Board Finance Committee and contributing significantly to the governance and strategic direction of the company. He brings over two decades of executive leadership and governance experience across Uganda and the broader East African region, with a distinguished career in fund management, capital markets, investment advisory, and financial regulation.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Essex and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (Honours) from Saint Joseph’s University in the United States. He also holds a Diploma in Financial Analysis from the Johannesburg School of Finance and is an alumnus of executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, GIBS Business School (University of Pretoria), and Strathmore Business School.

“We are confident that under Mr. Kitariko’s stewardship, the Board will continue to uphold the highest standards of governance while driving the Company’s long-term growth and customer-focused transformation,” said Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda in a statement.

The company also expressed its appreciation for the outgoing Chairperson, Ms. Sophie Nkuutu, acknowledging her “dedicated service, exceptional leadership, and profound contribution to the growth of Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda Limited.”

Under Ms. Nkuutu’s guidance, the company “navigated a dynamic operating environment while enhancing its strategic capabilities and cementing its leadership in Uganda’s life insurance sector.” The company also emphasized that Ms. Nkuutu’s “legacy of excellence in board leadership, stakeholder engagement, and governance will continue to inspire the organization.”

Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda thanked Ms. Nkuutu for her “tireless efforts” and wished her continued success in her future endeavours.
