Kareem Ghaly Appointed Head of MENA at Alta Semper Capital LLP in Cairo, Egypt

Kareem Ghaly has been appointed as the Head of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at Alta Semper Capital LLP, with operations based in Cairo, Egypt.

Bringing with him over 14 years of substantial experience in investment and advisory services, Kareem has a proven track record of successfully executing transactions exceeding US$ 7bn in both Egypt and the bigger MENA region.

Before joining Alta Semper, Kareem worked at the British International Investment (BII), the United Kingdom’s development finance arm. During his tenure at BII, he established a huge on-ground presence in Egypt, driving activity across multiple sectors and asset classes.

His career trajectory includes over a decade in investment banking at renowned financial institutions such as Renaissance Capital, where he held the position of Senior Vice President in Investment Banking from June 2019 to January 2023, where he gave advisory on high-profile mergers and acquisitions (M&A), Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets. His strategic insights and execution capabilities were key in several high-profile deals, among which he contributed to Alta Semper’s successful initial public offering (IPO) of Macro Holdings, an achievement in the firm’s history.

Kareem Ghaly also served as the Egypt Country Manager for Equity, Debt and Fund Investments at CDC Group plc since January 2023. His earlier experience includes serving as Associate Vice President of Investment Banking at ADI Capital from January 2017 to June 2019 and working in various capacities within Investment Banking and as an Equity Analyst at EFG Hermes Holding from January 2012 to December 2016 and at HC Securities & Investment from September 2011 to January 2012.

Ghaly holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Finance from the American University in Cairo, where studies were completed between 2006 and 2010.

Kareem is set to officially join the board of Alta Semper Capital LLP at the end of February 2025, as his extensive regional expertise and leadership will be instrumental in growing the organization’s MENA mandate and deepening its presence in those critical growth markets.
