I&M Bank Introduces a New Era of Digital Banking with the Launch of the Express Go Account Offering Free Bank-to-Wallet Transfers

I&M Bank Uganda is making significant strides in digital banking with the launch of its Express Go Digital Account, designed to provide affordable and convenient banking solutions for its customers. The unveiling took place on November 7th at the bank’s headquarters located at Kingdom Kampala, introducing a unique account that is accessible exclusively through the I&M On-The-Go app. The Express Go account is tailored for modern banking needs, allowing for free bank-to-wallet transfers—ensuring seamless, and low-cost access to funds.

During the launch event, I&M Bank CEO Robin Bairstow emphasized the bank’s commitment to enhancing the banking experience by providing easier, more secure, and affordable solutions.

“We understand that today’s customers expect seamless, convenient, on-the-go solutions without unnecessary fees. The Express Go Digital Account offers just that. With this account, you can transfer funds to your mobile wallet at no cost,” Bairstow stated.

Alvin Musinguzi, the Head of e-banking at I&M Bank, led the media through a live demonstration showcasing the convenience of the Express Go account.

He explained that to open the account, customers need to download the I&M On-The-Go app from the Play Store, select the ‘Open Account’ option, and follow the prompts.

“All you need to open the account is your National Identity card details, a photo (specifically a selfie), and a minimum opening deposit of Shs 10,000. The Express Go account is incredibly easy to set up, with no complicated procedures and no fees for bank-to-wallet transfers, making it even more convenient for our customers,” Musinguzi said. He also rewarded the first journalist to complete the process with Shs 500,000.

Sam Ntulume, the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of I&M Bank, highlighted that while the Express Go account emphasizes convenience and affordable banking, it is also vital to the bank’s environmental sustainability efforts.

“We are committed to reducing our environmental impact,” Ntulume explained. “By promoting digital banking through products like Express Go, we aim to minimize paper usage and reduce the need for physical documents. This not only makes banking more efficient and accessible but also supports our organization’s broader efforts towards environmental conservation,” he added.

Joseph Biryahwaho, I&M Bank’s Head of Risk, assured customers and the public about the security and reliability of the I&M On-The-Go app, which hosts the Express Go account.

“At I&M Bank, we take the security of our customers’ funds very seriously. We are confident in the robust security measures integrated into the I&M On-The-Go app, the foundation of the Express Go account,” Biryahwaho stated.

“The launch of Express Go is part of I&M Bank’s broader strategy to lead in digital banking. We are continuously investing in technology to ensure our customers receive cutting-edge solutions that make banking easier, more affordable, and secure,” Nakiyaga stated.

As part of its digital transformation, I&M Bank aims to foster financial inclusion and meet the demands of modern banking with innovative, secure, and user-friendly options like the Express Go Digital Account. The account is now fully operational and available for download on the I&M On-The-Go app, making banking as easy as a few taps on a smartphone.
